Winning Roast Magazine’s Micro Roaster of the Year Award in 2013 was just one of many accolades for Olympia Coffee. That year, their coffees garnered the highest cupping scores in Roaster of the Year competition history. Their baristas are at the top of coffee brewing competitions year after year, meaning consistently great coffee.

Their green coffee buyer, Oliver Stormshak, spends a huge portion of the year travelling to origin, discovering new beans and working with coffee growers to improve the quality of their fruit. One of the bigger roasters, it’s highly unusual for a company of this size to be able to devote so much time and effort into work at origin.

Inspired by his interest in food science, Oliver has also pioneered an approach he calls ‘Caramelisation Roast,’ which highlights inherent origin flavour while maximising sweetness. This produces an approachable, sweet cup, balanced against the vibrant and complex flavours inherent in the coffee itself.
